I probably should have made an effort to write this post before halloween as most people seem to associate popcorn balls with trick or treating (though I never received a popcorn ball as a halloween treat…?) buuuut…I didn’t write it then.
I firmly believe that popcorn balls should be enjoyed all fall and winter! My first introduction to these delightful balls o’yum was actually only a few years ago when my dear Adrienne suggested we make some. I definitely recommend making popcorn balls with friends – it’s so much more fun! And also, if you’re a bit devious, you can probably talk your friend into handling the molten syrup, thereby sparing your own fingerprints. Not that I’ve ever done this. Sorry, Adrienne!
I like to add yummies to my popcorn balls – this time I used crushed plain M&M’s and crushed peanuts. I coulda used more peanuts, but still – these were a great combination of salty, sweet and chocolate!
I also like to make small popcorn balls – they’re cuter, and really a little goes a long way when it comes to these super sticky treats. They’re fun to give away as Pops, too!
And hey, guess what! I’ve even got my own recipe this time (a feat accomplished by taking a little from this, a little from that until I’ve got my own happy way of making Popcorn Balls!) So if you click the recipe image, you should be able to print it and cut out a nice little 4×6 card. One day I’ll pester Dave into making it even simpler to print recipes, but today is not that day. Sorry!
Anyway, I hope you guys are enjoying this weather as much as I am. I big time love the fall.
Go get your Pop(corn) on!
