I survived to blog another day! Thanks for all of the encouragement, my bloggy buddies. 🙂
Umm..I hate when people talk or blog about the weather, but I feel it is totally relevant today. So let me just say – the weather was perfect for our run yesterday – VERY overcast, with an intermittent breeze coming off the water, and a little bit of rain sprinkling here and there. Much better than the usual searing humid heat of Florida!
This was Alanna’s first 5k ever and she did totally awesome. At the starting line she confessed she wasn’t really thrilled with the walk/jog plan – so we scrapped it and jogged our little hearts out. We didn’t walk at all until after the first mile and then I would guesstimate that we spent a total of 5 minutes or less walking, most of which happened near the water station.
We finished in 39:52, which is my worst race time to date, but this was probably the most successful race I’ve done in terms of pacing myself, staying with my partner, enjoying the scenery, and feeling HEALTHY at the end instead of feeling like I’d injured myself. So – HOORAY!
Annnyway…we’ll get back to the regularly scheduled programming here ASAP. I’ve got a birthday cake to make this week and one for next week as well, and I think I’m going to have a couple of guest bloggers in here, too – so don’t worry, I’m not going to keep subjecting you to pictures of my sweaty self. Promise!
Hangin’ tough, stayin’ hungry,
Becki
(Oh, and yes I am wearing the same shirt as in the previous post. Thanks for noticing!)

Congratulations Becki! You and Alanna have much to be proud of!
p.s. just gonna grab your button as I leave…
Good for you! I still think you’re nuts though.
Yaaaay!! You did it!!! I’m so proud of you! By the way, I love your Becki Bakes Badge! Cute, cute, cute!!
I really had so much fun, and can’t wait for the next one 🙂
Good job! I run races too! They are so fun, we have about the same pace. The best I have EVER finished was 35:12. I have only been running for 2 years, so I am very proud of myself! lol. I would like to run 10k’s from here on out, and I have a 10 mile race next month. eek. I will be sure to post pics on my blog! Thanks for the comment!
and you read Reag’s blob? Yup, confirmed, you rock.
CONGRATS!! the only 5k i’ve ever walk/run was 39:55, so you’re doin’ better than me 😀 (my goal was 40 minutes, woohoo!)
