What the Heck??

by Becki D on August 7, 2009

This is my first post on my first-ever blog.  Yippee!!

So a lot of you are probably asking, “Becki, why do we need to know that you breastfeed?  Isn’t it kind of in bad taste to have that in the title of your blog?”

Mmm….maybe.  But I am a FTM (First Time Mamajama) who up until a couple short years ago never imagined herself being defined by and loving the roll of Mom.  Yet here I am!  I am writing a blog because I am pretttty house-bound and bored right now and it’s mostly because I breastfeed my baby girl.  You see I am not one of those women (more power to them!) who is comfortable holding a conversation with friends and family (much less strangers in public!) while nursing my baby.  It’s natural, yes.  So are bathroom breaks but I sure don’t like having conversations while that’s going on, either!

Also, I am lazy.  My “production” is quite minimal, and while I know that I could take supplements and pump all the live long day to get things going more excessively….I just don’t want to.  I feel like enough of a cow as it is, thank you very much!  So it’s hard to pump and have milk in bottles so I can plan a day out amongst the general population, or on a much-longed-for date with my DD (Dear David).

Being a breastfeeder also limits the kinds and styles of clothes that I can wear.  An example: my wonderful MIL (Mother In Law) gave me a bunch of cute dresses for church..but I can’t wear them because they are all one-pieces and so I would not be able to take Lauren to the bathroom and easily nurse her.  So the cute dresses must wait!

In summary, breastfeeding is a big part of what I’ve got going on right now.  I hope it doesn’t offend you.  And maybe on that glorious day when Lauren is finally weaned (5 more months…yaaaugh) I will change my blog title.

There.   Now we ALL have something to look forward to!

You know it is amazing… We become mothers and our conversations become revolved around breast feeding, pooping, and lack of… well you know! Motherhood is wonderful!!!!! I wouldn’t trade it for anything and I am sure you wouldn’t either. A DATE with the hubby would be nice!!!!! Keep the blogs and recipes coming!!! Eventually one day we will be able to get together… Maybe a guitar hero night!!!!
